This five-item lot includes four black Heisman Trophy hats each signed by a past winner of the award, and a paper signed by the man for whom the trophy is named, John W. Heisman. In 1930 he became Director of the Downtown Athletic Club, which awarded the first trophy in 1935 (when it was called the DAC Trophy). It was named in his honor after Heisman's death in 1936. The good condition 4" x 8-1/2" document is signed by both Heismans' and a notary public in black fountain pen. Heisman's is crisp and bold, rating a near-perfect 10. The caps bear a gold logo of the famous trophy depicting a swivel-hipped ball carrier, and are signed by trophy winners Glen Davis (1946), "Hopalong" Cassady (1955), Steve Ownes (1969), and Pat Sullivan (1971), each on the bill of the cap in gold marker. The signatures are 7s and 8s with Davis's the strongest.
