Tom Fears came to the Los Angeles Rams in 1948 as a defensive back and in his first game he intercepted two passes, taking one back for a TD. The Rams switched him to receiver where he became one of the all-time greats. Running his precise button-hook patterns, he led the NFL in receptions his first 3 seasons and in 1951 he paid the biggest dividends, grabbing 3 TDs in the division title game and the winning TD in the championship game against the Browns. Fears, who still holds the record with 18 catches in one game, hauled in 400 balls in his 8-year career, for 5,397 yards and 38 TDs. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1970. Among his many blandishments is this 14K gold LeCoultre watch, awarded to each of the victorious 1951 Rams. The watch is engraved with Fears' name on the back and "Los Angeles Rams, World Champions, 1951" on the gold corona around the black and gold face. The watch is in excellent condition.
