Alphonse (Tuffy) Leemans played fullback, defense and quarterback for the New York Giants from 1936-1943. He led NFL rushers as a rookie and made all NFL in 1936 and 1939. On the crotch piece is the "Spalding" label and adjacent is the size tag, "40." The player number "4" appears on both the front and back of the jersey in white tackle twill. There are several repair marks on the shirt. The jersey shows good game-use and with the exception of the repair marks, appears to have no other alterations of any kind.
