Although Guidry won over 20 games three times in his career, he is remembered for having one of the greatest single seasons ever. He was 25-3 with a 1.74 ERA in 1978, won the Cy Young Award unanimously and finished second to Boston's Jim Rice in AL MVP voting. In the neck of the jersey is a white label reading "Guidry 86 1" in blue chain stitch. The numbers denote the year and player number, respectively. On the left front tail is the "Wilson" label and adjacent is the size tag, "40." On the left breast is the "NY" logo and on the back is the player number "49." Both the logo and number are made of blue tackle twill. There is an autograph on the upper left front of the shirt rating 8+. There is a black armband missing from the left sleeve. The jersey shows good game-use and with the exception of the missing armband, appears to have no other alterations of any kind.
