A natural athlete blessed with tremendous power, a rifle arm, and a durable body, Eddie Mathews was the premier third baseman of his era. A key member of the excellent Braves teams of the late 1950s, he was elected to the Hall of Fame in 1978. A final 1966 season with the Braves permitted Mathews to play in Atlanta, thus becoming the only three-city ballplayer with the same franchise. On the left front tail of the jersey is the "Sand-Knit" exclusive label. Next to this is the "Sand-Knit" wash tag and adjacent is the size tag, "44." Across the front of the jersey is the name "Braves" in script style letters. The manager number "41" appears on both the left breast and on the back of the shirt. The letters and numbers are made of blue/white tackle twill on a red embroidered backing. the jersey shows wear and appears to have no alterations of any kind.
