Upon his retirement, after 19 seasons of play, Lou Brock held the staggering record of 938 stolen bases. Although a threat on the basepaths, Brock is also one of the few players in the history of the game to reach the elusive plateau of 3,000 hits. This batting helmet was worn by Brock during several of his many trips to the plate during the early 1970s. On the front of the helmet is the Cardinals logo which has been hand-painted and on the back is his jersey number "20" in raised decals. On the inside is a partial size tag reading "7 3/8" and a vintage piece of white tape with the number "20" in black marker. He signed the helmet on the front brim in black sharpie, with the signature rating an 8.
