With the Senators in 1959, Ed Fitz Gerald became the first ML player to hit into a triple play on Opening Day and in a 1953 game, the catcher turned a rare unassisted double play. He was one of seven brothers who barnstormed as the "Traveling Fitz Gerald Basketball Team". In the neck of the jersey is a white felt patch with the name "Ed Fitzgerald" in blue chain stitch. On the left front tail is the "Wilson" label with the size, "42" and below this is the wash tag. Under this is the year tag "1956." On the left breast is the letter "W" and on the back is the player number "8." Both the letter and the number are made of blue/red tackle twill on white felt. The zipper has been replaced. The jersey shows game-use and with the exception of the replaced zipper, appears to have no other alterations of any kind.
