There was no dearth of talented shortstops in the major leagues in the 1990s but Seattle's Alex Rodriguez outclassed them all. Former teammate Ken Griffey Jr. once said he hoped that when Rodriguez hits .330 with 25 home runs, that people won't say he had a bad year. On the inside left front tail is the "Rawlings" label and adjacent is the flag tag reading "Set 1 2001." Below the Rawlings label is the size tag, "52." Across the front of the jersey is the name "Rangers" in blue on red/black tackle twill and on the back is a white nameplate with the name "Rodriguez" in blue on red tackle twill. The player number "3" appears on both the left breast and on the back of the jersey. The numbers are made of blue on red/black tackle twill. On the left sleeve is the state of Texas patch and on the right sleeve is the American League centennial patch. On the back of the jersey is an American flag patch commemorating the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon. There is an autograph on the back of the jersey reading "Alex Rodriguez 2001 Game Used." On the back number is a sticker authenticating the autograph. The shirt comes with a certificate from Rodriguez. It shows game-use and appears to have no alterations of any kind.
