Jackie Robinson paved the way by being the first black to play in the majors when he stepped on the field on April 15, 1947. His exceptional play netted him the Rookie of the Year Award that season and he was inducted to the Hall of Fame in 1962. In 1997, MLB celebrated the 50th Anniversary of Robinson's breaking of the color barrier. This commemorative package has an embossed gold image of Jackie on the folder, a personal signed check from him and a letter of authenticity from his wife, Rachel. Jackie's blue ballpoint signature rates a solid 9.
