As long as the game of baseball will be played, there will never be another ballplayer with more talent and character than the likes of Babe Ruth and Ty Cobb. The "Sultan of Swat" and the "Georgia Peach" each epitomized the game he played. Ruth with his tape-measure homeruns and his legendary appetite for night life, Ruth brought baseball into the national spotlight once and for all. Cobb, the always fiery and sometimes onery outfielder for the Indians and A's, brought a competitive edge to the game that has rarely has been matched. After their playing careers during the 1940s, they managed against each other in an "All-American Fund Raising Game". A 7" x 9" sepia photo was produced of each team's coaches. The East team photo has been signed by Hall of Famers Babe Ruth and Carl Hubbell along with Giants scout, Gordon Maguire. Sixteen common autographs appear on the back of the East team photo in blue and black fountain pen. Ruth's autograph rates a 7 due to some smudging. The West team photo has been signed by Cobb on the front and his signature rates an 8. Included among the 12 black and blue ink signatures on the back are Hall of Famers Mel Ott and Joe McCarthy. Ott's big blue signature rates a 9.
