Hall of Famer Mel Ott blasted 511 home runs in a 22-season career with the New York Giants, and managed the team for seven seasons. Ott later pursued a number of business ventures, one of which was as PR man for the Milan Engineering firm of New Orleans. In this letter, on Milan stationary, dated March 17, 1954, he pitches a New York ad executive about a "sales promotion plan that is tied in with baseball, particularly the outcome of the World Series." Ott informally signed the letter, "Mel", over the typed "Melvin C. Ott." The signature is a near-perfect 10. The letter is in excellent condition with two light fold marks. The executive's favorable response is also included.
