In 1935, Navin Field was renamed Brigg's Stadium after new owner Walter O'Briggs. By 1938, O'Briggs had renovated the stadium into one of the largest ballparks in the league. In 1961, O'Briggs died and new Tiger owner John Fetzer renamed the ballpark, Tiger Stadium. In 1977, fire destroyed the press box so the city bought the stadium from the Tigers for the sum of $1. The city decided to renovate by building a new video scoreboard, press box and new orange and blue seats to replace the old wooden green seats. Pictured here are two of those old green wooden seats from Briggs Stadium. Both individual seats have metal legs and a thick green cushioned seat. On one chair, three wooden slats measuring 3" and 5" are used for the backrest and on the other chair two 3/4" metal bars and one 3" wooden slat are used. Both chairs are in excellent condition.
