Willie McCovey enjoyed great success with the New York Giants, beginning in 1959 when he was named the National League Rookie of the Year. Over the rest of his 22 year career, he would go on to hit 521 homeruns, play in six All-Star games, and win the 1969 National League MVP award. In 1962, he helped to lead his team to a League Championship. This Louisville Slugger was used by McCovey and shows the labeling period 1965-68, one of the most productive periods of his career. The 35 inch, 33.1 ounce, K55 model bat shows evidence of moderate game use. There are several ball and stitch marks visible on the barrel and there is slight grain separation on the reverse due to repeated ball contact. "44" has been written on the knob in vintage black marker. "34" is written on the knob in pencil and represents the weight of the bat when new. A picture perfect McCovey gamer.
