Mark McGwire first made a name for himself in 1987 when he was awarded Rookie of the Year honors after a spectacular first season performance that included setting a still standing record of 49 homeruns. As his career progressed it became obvious to all that we were looking at one of baseballs all time great power hitters and all doubts were put to rest when he shattered Roger Maris' single season record hitting an unbelievable 70 homeruns in 1998. Although his record may have been broken, the aura that surrounds the man who brought baseball back as America's National pastime will never change. This Rawlings Mac 25 model bat was made for McGwire's use during the 1998 season. The bat shows heavy game-use with his typical mid-barrel pine tar. It is 34.5 inch, 33 ounce uncracked beauty with his full name on the barrel in block letters. One of the nicest '98 Mac gamers there is.
