One of the most talented and influential singer/songwriters in music history, Billy Joel has been writing hit songs for nearly 30 years. In 1977, Joel released his fifth album called "The Stranger" and his place in Rock and Roll history was insured. From Vienna to Scenes from an Italian Restaurant, "The Stranger" still remains Joel's masterpiece. In 1978, the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences awarded Billy Joel the Grammy for "Record of the Year" for the song "Just the Way You Are". The gold-plated gramophone sits on a wood base with a plaque that reads "National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences, Billy Joel, Record of the Year - 1978, Just the Way You Are." On the underside of the base is a twelve-line rights and regulations statement by the NARAS. The grammy is in excellent condition.
