This is one of the most incredible and historic pieces of Americana ever offered at auction. It vividly portrays the dream of one of this country's greatest visionaries, Walt Disney. This lot contains perhaps the only known "Original Plot Plan" held outside of corporate offices, it is Disney's dream for a theme park called "Disneyland." The architectural rendering is mounted on a sturdy linen backing and measures 60" x 43" with a scale of 1 inch per 50 feet. Graphically displayed are the four main areas of Fantasyland, Frontierland, Adventureland and Tomorrowland, along with all the famous rides and attractions, such as Snow Mountain, Painted Desert and the incredible railroad that runs through the park. The Railroad Design package was consigned to this auction by Donald D. Rake, Sr., the railroad architect hired by the Disney organization to create the railroad. It contains the complete and original set of blueprints with layouts and site work plans from start to finish. Rake's detailed notes, mathematical computations, time sheets, etc. are also provided for those bidders with attention to detail. A letter from Rake, chronologically describing the events and details of his meetings with Disney officials, is also included.
