The ABA introduced fans a new and exciting brand of basketball that allowed the athletes more freedom to display their arsenal of offensive moves with a Broadway flair and that had rarely been seen before. Players such as Dr J., George Gervin, Connie Hawkins, Dan Issel, Moses Malone and Artis Gilmore all began their professional careers in the ABA and continued to dominate in the NBA when the league went defunct in 1976. This red durene short-sleeved referee shirt was used in the ABA circa 1967-1968. A red, white and blue ABA patch adorns the left breast of the shirt and a "Rawlings 44" size tag appears in the collar. The number "12" on the back is sewn on and made of white tackle twill.
