The 1974 "Rumble in the Jungle" between Muhammad Ali and George Foreman is probably the most famous and most depicted of all heavyweight title bouts ever. One reason for this fascination is that it was one of the most dramatic heavyweight bouts of all time. The features of the two opponents couldn’t have been more different - on the one side the patriotic Foreman who had waved the Star Spangled Banner after winning the Olympics in 1968. On the other side the inconvenient black hero Ali, who had enraged the White establishment with his claim for conscientious objector status and his converting to Islam. The fight took place on 10/30/74 in Kinshasa, Zaire and was heavily promoted by Don King, who had never promoted a fight before. George Foreman was the heavy favorite with his enormous strength. George tires out and Ali drops him in the eighth round to become heavyweight champion of the world for the second time in an incredibly exciting match! This program being offered is extremely rare and desirable among serious boxing collectors. The program grades NM overall with ink on two of the pages. A great piece of boxing history!
