Legendary quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers, Montana won 4 Super Bowl titles and 3 Super Bowl MVPs. An 8-time All-Pro, Montana is one of only five quarterbacks to pass for over 40,000 yards in a career. Known for his late game heroics, Montana brought his team back to win 31 times in the fourth quarter. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2002. This San Francisco 49ers helmet was worn by Montana during the 1983-84 season. It is one of the finest early Montana helmets ever offered. The "Bike" shell, which was worn by Montana throughout most of his 49ers career, has a double bladder and shows significant wear. Two "Riddell" leather extra large jaw pads as was Montana's preference, show great wear and aging. The reinforced middle bar face mask was only worn by Montana during the 1983-84 seasons. The original single hookup 1970's Riddell chin strap, with grey cupping, is still present as are the original clips. A fine game-used Montana helmet.
