In his 13 NBA seasons, Bill Russell proved to be one of the greatest leaders that professional sports has ever seen. Russell's Celtics exemplified the idea of a dynasty by winning every year from 1959 to 1966, an eight-peat. Declaring that "shooting is of relatively little importance in a player's overall game", Russell's rebounding seemed to catalyze the Celtics' offense, with 22.5 rebounds per game in the regular season and 24.9 rebounds per game in the postseason, his career numbers. Russell and his Celtics won an incredible 11 NBA championships between 1957 and 1969. Those teams had Cousy, Sharman, Havlicek, and K.C. and Sam Jones, but only Russell was there for all 11 titles. Russell wore this white durene jersey with satin shorts in the 1969 All-Star Game, the last one he played. On the left front tail is the "Wilson" manufacturer's tag with the size "46." The team name "East" is sewn across the front of the jersey and the player number "6" is sewn on both the front and back of the jersey. All of the letters and numbers are made of navy tackle twill. Accompanying the jersey are Russell's white satin shorts with navy elastic trim, also from the 1969 All-Star Game. Below the waistband is the "Wilson" manufacturer's tag with the size "36." The uniform's tagging and stitching are consistent with tagging and stitching present on other 1969 All-Star jerseys. The jersey and shorts show game-use with consistent, even wear throughout and appear to have no alterations of any kind.
