How could a person be more well-rounded than Bill Bradley? At Princeton, he led his basketball team to three Ivy League titles while distinguishing himself well enough in the classroom to graduate with honors and win a Rhodes Scholarship to attend Oxford. After his years abroad, Bradley joined with several other future Hall of Famers to lead the New York Knicks to NBA titles in 1970 and 1973, earning acclaim for his clutch shooting and remarkable passing. Not yet satisfied, Bradley was elected as a United States Senator from New Jersey only two years after his 1977 retirement from basketball and would serve for 18 years. His 2000 presidential campaign left numerous politicians scrambling to incorporate his ideas into their policies, leaving an indelible mark on American democracy. Bradley wore this white home knit Knicks jersey circa 1971. In the neck of the jersey is the "Cosby" manufacturer's tag and below it are the size tag "44 LONG" and the wash tag. The shoulders have been custom altered for Bradley. The team name "New York" has been sewn across the front of the jersey and the player number "24" has been sewn onto both the front and back of the jersey. These letters and numbers are made of orange on blue tackle twill. The player name "Bradley" is sewn onto the back of the jersey in blue tackle twill. The jersey's tagging and stitching are consistent with tagging and stitching present on other early 1970s Knicks jerseys. The jersey shows game use with consistent, even wear throughout and buckling on the numbers. Except for the custom cut shoulders, it has no alterations of any kind.
