An all-American football and baseball player at the Michigan State University Kirk Gibson was the Detroit Tigers first round draft pick in the 1978 draft. By the mid 1980s Gibson had established himself as a key member of the Detroit franchise combining raw power and speed made him the first Tiger in club history to hit 20 homeruns and steal 20 bases in the same season. This jersey is from the mid-1980s and dates from the all around most productive period in his career. On the left front tail is the "Russell Athletic" label with the size "48." Across the front of the jersey is the team name "Detroit" in blue on orange tackle twill. On the back of the jersey is the player name "Gibson" in blue tackle twill and below this is the player number "23 in blue on orange tackle twill. The jersey shows game use and appears to have no alterations of any kind.
