A graceful left-handed batting First Baseman who rose rapidly on the strength of three high average minor league seasons, Jack Burns hit a career high .305 for the Browns in 1932. He twice led AL first basemen in assists. The Bostonian became a Red Sox coach and scout, covering New England until 1973. On the left front tail is the "McAuliffe" label. Below this is "55 42 3in. 31" which has been done in blue chain stitch. The numbers denote the year, size, three extra inches in body length and the player number, respectively. On the inside back tail is the wash tag. Across the front of the jersey is the name "Boston" and on the back is the player number "31." Both the name and number are made of blue felt. The jersey shows wear and appears to have no alterations of any kind.
