Ozzie Smith was the best defensive shortstop of the 1980's and arguably the best ever. For nineteen years, the "Wizard of Oz" (or "The Wizard of Ah!s") dominated baseball with his breathtaking and often game-saving, defensive play. To watch Ozzie play was to see a combination of baseball, ballet and gymnastics. On the inside left tail of the jersey is the "Rawlings" label with the size, "42." Adjacent is the "Shorter 1 Inch" label and below this is the flag tag reading "Set 1 1992." Across the front of the jersey is the name "Cardinals" in script-style letters made of red on blue embroidered stitch. Going through the letter "C" is a gold embroidered bat with a red embroidered Cardinal perched on each end. On the back of the shirt is a white nameplate with the name "O. Smith" in red on blue tackle twill. The player number "1" appears on both the left breast and on the back of the shirt. The numbers are also made of red on blue tackle twill. On the left sleeve is the "Cardinals 100th Anniversary" patch. There is some buckling on the back number. The jersey shows game-use and appears to have no alterations of any kind.
