Kerry Wood won 13 games for the Chicago Cubs in his 1998 rookie season, a performance that earned him the NL Rookie of the Year award. On Wednesday May 6, 1998 Kerry Wood joined Roger Clemens as the only pitchers in history to strike out 20 batters in a nine inning game. Offered is a full ticket from that game that is in excellent to near mint condition. Also included in this lot is a jersey from that history-making 1998 season. In the neck of the jersey is a white patch reading "34-48-98" denoting the player number, size, and year respectively. On the left front tail is the "Russell Athletic" label with the size "48" and below this is the "2" Extra Length" label. On the left breast is the Cubs red/white/blue logo and on the back is the name "Wood" in blue on red tackle twill. Below this is the player number "34" also in blue on red tackle twill. On the left sleeve is the "Hey Hey" patch commemorating the death of Jack Brickhouse. Below this is the Cubs patch. On the right sleeve is a "Face" patch commemorating the death of Harry Carey. On the front of the jersey is an autograph, rating an 8. The jersey shows game-use and appears to have no alterations of any kind. The autograph comes with a letter from PSA/DNA.
