The embodiment of the All-American athlete, Dale Murphy was a shining star for Atlanta. Proving to be one of baseball's most durable players, Murphy reached stardom in 1982, leading the Braves to a pennant with Gold Glove defense and All-Star offense. The following year, he became the youngest of the four players in National League history to win back-to-back MVP awards. On the left front tail of the jersey is the "Wilson" exclusive label and adjacent is the size tag, "44." Below the Wilson label is the "4 Inch X-Length" label and under this is the year tag "89" in blue embroidered stitch. Across the front of the jersey is the name "Atlanta" in script-style letters made of red on blue tackle twill. Below this is the Braves "Tomahawk." On the back of the jersey is a gray nameplate with the name "Murphy" in blue tackle twill. Below this is the player number "3" in red on blue tackle twill. On the left sleeve is a black armband commemorating the death of Bart Giamatti. The jersey shows game-use and appears to have no alterations of any kind.
