This incredible Lou Gehrig game-used bat measuring 35 in and weighing 39 oz is uncracked and displays evidence of tremendous game use. Barrel handle and knob dimensions as well as length and weight measurements match perfectly to bats ordered by Gehrig during 1929 and 1930. The barrel has many ball marks and cleat gouges and has been grooved to improve the hitting zone. This grooving of the barrel is significant in that Gehrig was known to groove his bats. Additionally, the grooving also confirms game use. Players took great care of their bats. A boned or grooved barrel indicates the importance of the bat to the player. Judging by the grooving on the barrel, this bat was surely a favorite of the "Iron Horse." Lou Gehrig game-used bats of this time period and quality are few and far between! This is one of the finest examples we have ever seen! Manufacturer: Hillerich & Bradsby, Model Number: Pre-Model #, Labeling Period: 1929-1930, Length: 35 in, Weight: 39 oz, Wood: Ash, Finish: Standard. The bat comes with a letter from PSA/DNA.
