To frustrated hitters he was the "Junk Man." Eddie Lopat turned his lack of a fastball into an advantage, keeping hitters off stride with an assortment of slow breaking pitches thrown with cunning and accuracy. With the Yankees, manager Casey Stengel pitched him between flamethrowers Allie Reynolds and Vic Raschi, the contrast making Lopat's slow stuff all the more unhittable. In the neck of the jersey is a white felt patch with the name "Lopat E" which has been done in blue chain stitch. On the left front tail is the "Wilson" label and adjacent is the size tag, "46." Below the Wilson label is the wash tag and below this is the year "1954" in black chain stitch. Across the front of the jersey is the name "New York" and on the back is the player number "30." The name and number are made of blue felt. The jersey shows game-use and appears to have no alterations of any kind.
