A superb defensive catcher Jim Hegan retired from baseball following the 1960 season. In 1971 Hegan joined the New York Yankees as a coach. This jersey dates from that season. In the neck of the jersey is a white patch with the name "Hegan" done in blue chain stitch. On the left front tail is the "Wilson" label with the size "44." and below is the year "1971" done in blue chain stitch. On the left breast is the New York Yankees logo and the back is the player number "44." Both the logo and the number are made of blue felt. The jersey shows wear and appears to have no alterations of any kind.
