Bobby Murcer joined the Yankees in 1969 and took over in the outfield for his boyhood hero Mickey Mantle. In his rookie season he hit .259 with 26 homeruns and 86 RBIs. He would go on to play a total of 17 seasons of baseball, the bulk of which were played with the Yankees. This jersey dates from his 1979 season. In the collar is a white patch with "Murcer 79 1" in blue chain stitch. This denotes Player, year, and set number respectively. On the left front tail is the "Wilson" label with the size "42." On the left front breast of the jersey is the Yankees "NY" logo and on the back is the player number "2." The logo and number are made of blue tackle twill. On the left sleeve of the jersey is a black armband worn in honor of the death of Yankees star Thurman Munson. The jersey shows game use and appears to have no alterations of any kind.
