There was nothing quite like a Jimmie Foxx home run; powerful, muscular arms whipping a 35 inch bat into a pitch with incredible speed, ball rocketing from home plate to places beyond even faster. Ruth's home runs were majestic, Foxx exhibited brute force. In his 20-year career "Double X" belted 534 home runs, amassed 1922 RBIs and was a three time American League MVP. Offered is a Hillerich & Bradsby model 125 game-used Foxx bat from 1942-44. Measuring 35 inches and weighing 31.5 ounces, the bat shows exceptional game use with a repaired handle crack. Length and weight correspond to Hillerich & Bradsby ordering records for bats shipped to Foxx during his years with the Chicago Cubs. Many ball marks can be seen on the barrel and the shadow of spiral taping is visible on the handle. The tape was probably removed when the handle crack was repaired. This evidence of tape is a "Foxx finger print" on the bat. Numerous vintage photos show Foxx with a taped handled bat. This "finger print" could place the bat directly into the hands of Foxx. One of the toughest 500 Home Run Club bats to find, this one is a beauty! Manufacturer: Hillerich & Bradsby, Model Number: Pre Model #, Labeling Period: 1942-1944, Length: 35 in, Weight: 31.5 oz, Wood: Ash, Finish: Standard. The bat comes with a letter from PSA/DNA.
