Few personalities are so deeply rooted in the history of our National Pastime as that of Casey Stengel. As a 21 year old rookie in 1913, Stengel had the opportunity to face the great Christy Mathewson, and as 61 year old manager, he refined a young Mickey Mantle into one of the game's most famous ball players. After a successful 14 year playing career, Casey went on to become a wildly successful manager, leading the New York Yankees to ten pennants and seven World Series victories in a twelve year span. Stengel has signed and inscribed this ball "To Zach Wheat, a real player and friend. Zach Wheat. Casey Stengel." The signature and inscription are in ink and rate an 8. The ONL Giles ball shows some light toning and some light game-use. A fascinating ball signed from one Hall of Famer to another. The autograph comes with a letter of authenticity from PSA/DNA.
