This is the team that started it all. When the 1923 New York Yankees beat the Giants in the World Series it was the first of a record 26 World Championships, continuing right up through the present. This record spans all sports and will likely never be broken. No fewer than 19 members of that historic team signed this Professional Rubber Center baseball including Babe Ruth (sweetspot, among the stronger signatures on the ball), Herb Pennock, Bob Shawkey, Joe Dugan, Joe Bush, Benny Bengough, Whitey Witt, Everitt Scott, Mike McNally, and Wally Schang. In the nearly 80 years since the ball was signed, it has endured while showing much toning and wear. Many of the signatures have faded and some are barely legible. The legible autographs all rate between 3 and 5 with Ruth being the best. At least nine illegible signatures are evident on the ball. Team signed balls of any condition from the 1920's are almost impossible to find and this ball has historical significance from the Yankees' first year at the stadium.
