A .358 batting average characterizes a career year for most superstars, but Rogers Hornsby averaged that over his 23 seasons in the majors. Hornsby's .424 average in 1924 is the highest in the modern era, and while no player has hit .400 since Ted Williams did in 1941, Hornsby hit .401 and .403 in 1922 and 1925, respectively, and nearly did it an additional time with a .397 average in 1921. This toned OAL Harridge baseball has been signed on the side panel in black ink by Hornsby, while a coach for the NY Mets, with a signature reading "Rogers Hornsby 1962." The ball is in excellent condition and the autograph rates a 7+. The autograph comes with a letter from PSA/DNA.
