Gil Hodges career in baseball spanned four decades in which he enjoyed success as both a player and manager. As a player for the Brooklyn and LA Dodgers, Hodges won three Gold Gloves and played on eight All-Star teams and as a Manager, he led the Mets to their improbable 1969 World Series victory. All these accomplishments led many to believe that Hodges is due a spot in Cooperstown. This cream colored "Official League" baseball has been signed "To My Friend Albert, Best Wishes, Gil Hodges" on the side panel. The blue ink signature and inscription are strong and bold, rating an 8. The only minor flaw is a small square discoloration that slightly mars the "ish" in wishes, and the "d" in Hodges. On another panel of the ball are the words "Donated By Yankees" indicating that at some point the ball may have been sold for charity. The autograph comes with a letter of authenticity from PSA/DNA.
