While his Major League career consisted of just one at bat, Eddie Gaedel has a secure place in baseball history. The 3' 7" midget appeared as a pinch-hitter for Bill Veeck's Cleveland Browns in the second game of a double-header on August 15, 1951, walked on four pitches, and promptly was removed for a pinch-runner. This September 24, 1951 questionnaire was sent to Gaedel by baseball historian Karl Wingler in his quest to obtain information on American League players for a book he was writing. Gaedel provided Wingler with his middle name, date of birth, nationality, hair color, eye color, high school and home address, all written in pencil. The page grades EX-MT with some light toning and a staple mark, and is accompanied by a second sheet providing more information on Gaedel. Eddie Gaedel memorabilia is always tough to find, so don't let this opportunity slip away.
