Prior to interleague play, New York had not hosted a baseball game between its two hometown teams in more than 40 years. On June 16, 1997, the New York Yankees played host to the Mets at Yankee Stadium. That game is wonderfully depicted here in this original oil on canvas painting by Thomas Kolendra. Measuring 40" x 14", the painting depicts a view from the stands in right field. The artists's painstaking attention to detail is evident in every facet of the painting. Nothing is left to the imagination as the time, 7:37, and batter's name (Lance Johnson) on the scoreboard are included as well. This is just a stunning piece.
