Born on May 3, 1921 Walker Smith later became known as Sugar Ray Robinson and started out in a boxing career that spanned three decades and left many calling him the greatest boxer that they had ever seen. After turning pro in 1940, Robinson won his first 40 fights before his first loss. Following that loss he went on to fight another eight years before losing another. During his career he was in 202 total fights winning 175 with 109 of those coming by way of knockout. An astounding 18 of those wins resulted in him being crowned Champion. Offered here is Sugar Ray's passport that was issued to him on April 15, 1958. It lists his name as "Walker Smith known as Sugar Ray Robinson" and his occupation as "Professional Boxer." On the fourth page is a vintage original passport photograph of Robinson that he has signed "Walker Smith, Sugar Ray Robinson." The blue ink signature rates a strong 8 and the photograph has the official Department of State stamp on the lower portion. Overall condition is excellent plus to near mint. The autograph comes with a letter of authenticity from PSA/DNA.
