Wayne Gretzky's 20 seasons in the National Hockey League included some of the greatest years the league has ever seen. Gretzky is the only player to score 200 points in a season, which he did on four occasions. He won the Hart Trophy nine times including eight in a row and led the NHL in scoring ten times. Gretzky did not seek individual glory; his scoring helped carry his Edmonton Oilers to four Stanley Cups and took his Los Angeles Kings into the Stanley Cup Finals. Unquestionably, Gretzky was the greatest hockey player ever. This is a 1991 Wayne Gretzky Team Canada jersey from the Canada Cup pre-Tournament games. In the neck of the jersey is the "Maska Air-Knit" manufacturer's tag and to the left is the size tag "54." The "Labatt Coupe Canada Cup" emblem and the "CCM" logo are screened on the front in red, white, and blue. The "CCM" logo is embroidered on the back right tail. The player number "99" is screened on the back and both sleeves of the jersey. The name "Gretzky" is screened on the back of the jersey, in white. The fight strap has been removed and a small piece of Velcro has been sewn inside the back right tail to tuck in the shirt. The jersey's tagging and stitching are consistent with tagging and stitching present on other Team Canada jerseys from the Canada Cup. It is accompanied by a letter of authenticity from the former head of acquisitions and appraisals for the Hockey Hall of Fame. The jersey shows light game use with a few stick marks. With the exception of the added Velcro patch and removed fight strap, the jersey appears to have no alterations of any kind.
