Former New York Giants offensive tackle Karl Nelson battled some tough opponents on the gridiron, but that pales in comparison to the fight he waged, and won, against Hodgkin's Disease. Now a broadcaster for the Giants, Nelson's high point during his career came during Super Bowl XXI when he cleared the way for teammates Phil Simms and Joe Morris to turn in terrific performances in Big Blue's 39-20 victory. This Bike helmet was worn by Nelson circa 1986 and shows outstanding game use. The Giants stickers are still firmly attached on either side of the helmet, as is the red stripe across the top and the 63 on the back, and there is a Riddell chin strap. The helmet is signed in silver Sharpie by Nelson, with his added number "63", and the signature grades a 7. The autograph comes with a letter from PSA/DNA and the helmet comes with a LOA from Lou Lampson.
