With a big play style on the field and a big heart persona off it, Derrick Thomas won the unending love and admiration of Kansas City. Thomas' game was making big plays. It meant pulling off a bold move, a sack, a forced fumble, a scoop of the football and a long run for a touchdown, a play that might change a game entirely. Nobody in football had such a lightning first step. Derrick died on February 8, 2000 recovering from a car crash that left him paralyzed from the chest down. At the base of the "V" neck is the "NFL" patch. On the left front tail is the year tag "93" which is made of red embroidered stitch. Next to this is the "Wilson" exclusive label and adjacent is the size tag "44." Under this is the "Short" label. On the back of the shirt is a red nameplate with the name "D. Thomas" in white on gold tackle twill. The player number "58" appears on the front, back and on each sleeve of the jersey. The numbers are white on gold and have been ironed-on. There is an autograph on the back number "5" which rates an 8. The jersey shows game-use and appears to have no alterations of any kind. The autograph comes with a letter from PSA/DNA.
