With his golden arm and lightning-quick release, Dan Marino became the most prolific passer in National Football League history. After a 17-year career, Marino stands as the all-time leader in touchdown passes (420), yardage (61,361), completions (4,967) and attempts (8,358). The 6-foot-4, 225-pound quarterback set up in the pocket and dared defenses to stop him; as his numbers show, they rarely did. Marino wore this Miami Dolphins home mesh jersey against the Kansas City Chiefs in a December 30, 1994 playoff game that turned out to be Joe Montana's last game in the NFL. In the neck of the jersey is the "Wilson" manufacturer's tag with the size "50" and below it is a white tackle twill patch with the year "94" embroidered in green. The "NFL" embroidered patch appears on the outside of the neck. The NFL "75th Anniversary" embroidered patch appears on the left breast and a "Wilson" embroidered patch appears on each sleeve. The Dolphins logo has been screened onto each sleeve in white, orange, and aqua green. The player number "13" appears on the front, back, and both sleeves of the jersey in white on orange tackle twill. There is an aqua green mesh nameplate on the back of the jersey with the player name "Marino" sewn on in white on orange tackle twill. There is an autograph on the front number "1" and another one on the back number "1." Each orange marker autograph rates a 9. The jersey's tagging and stitching are consistent with tagging and stitching present on other mid-1990s Miami Dolphins home jerseys. There are some small, removable remnants of glue on the jersey from when it was previously framed. The jersey is accompanied by a letter of authenticity from the Miami Dolphins equipment manager on Dolphins letterhead, and the letter states that Marino wore the jersey in the 1994/95 playoff game against the Kansas City Chiefs and later autographed it. More specifically, the game was played on 12/30/94 and was Montana's last. The jersey shows game-use with consistent, even wear throughout and appears to have no alterations of any kind. The importance of the game and the ironclad provenance make it one of the most cherished Marino jerseys in the hobby. The autographs come with a letter from PSA/DNA.
