Acclaimed rock guitarist Steve Vai began playing guitar in his teens, when he studied under local guitar teacher Joe Satriani (now a famed solo musician). He later came to the attention of gonzo musician Frank Zappa, who was impressed by Vai's amazing technical ability and tremendous knowledge of Zappa's own large repertoire; Vai soon joined Zappa's band as "stunt guitarist," earning a reputation as one of the most talented hard rock guitarists in the industry. Offered is an autographed Steve Vai custom guitar. This guitar came directly from his guitar techinician, Gavin Menzies. This guitar was the first prototype to use the "handle" system, which later became Steve's trademark. The guitar was built by Gavin specifically under Steve's specifications, as was the "handle" cut by Gavin. Gavin built several custom guitars for Vai, including his famous Annie Fannie guitar. This beautiful purple guitar is signed "Eat em and Smile, 1988, Steve Vai" in silver ink. The signature grades a 9. Includes photos of Steve signing the guitar and a letter from his techinician. The autograph comes with a letter from PSA/DNA.
