Bobby Brown was a star hitter in four World Series. In 1951, he shared Mantle's original jersey number "6" with him. This jersey was worn during the 1951 World Series and again during the 1952 season. In the neck of this road flannel jersey is the "Spalding" label and adjacent is the size tag "44." Below this is a gray felt patch reading "R Brown 1951-2," which is done in Swiss embroidered stitch. This patch was made for the 1951 World Series. On the inside left front tail is the wash tag. Across the front of the jersey is the team name "New York" and on the back is the player number "6." The letters and numbers are made of blue felt. During the 1952 season, the Yankees patch was taken off the left sleeve. We know this shirt was originally made for the 1951 World Series because of the chain stitch and no evidence of the American League 50th Anniversary patch. It was also worn in 1952 because there are remnants of a now-removed Yankees 50th Anniversary patch. The jersey shows game wear and, with the exception of the missing patch, appears to have no alterations of any kind.
