Roy White was the quiet leader of the Yankees in a period when their lackluster play was an embarrassing contrast to the franchise's long winning history. His consistently solid performance was finally rewarded in the mid 1970s when the club regained its winning touch. In the neck of this road knit jersey is a gray patch reading "White 79 1" which is done in blue chain stitch. The numbers denote the year and set number, respectively. On the left front tail is the "Wilson" label with the size "40." Across the front of the shirt is the team name "New York" and on the back is the player number "6." The number and letters are made of blue on white tackle twill. There is a black armband on the left sleeve commemorating the death of Thurman Munson. The jersey shows game use and appears to have no alterations of any kind.
