Until being discontinued after 1976, the Hickok Belt, or more formally the S. Rae Hickok Professional Athlete of the Year Award, was the most prestigious award available across the wide spectrum of professional sports. While the $15,000 bejeweled alligator skin belt was awarded yearly, each Hickok Professional Athlete of the Month received a belt buckle award like the one offered here, which was awarded to baseball star Elston Howard. This 2" x 1" zinc alloy belt buckle features a logo with the engraving "S. Rae Hickok Professional Athlete." It is in excellent to near mint condition with few flaws. While some might consider the Hickok Belt to be overly gaudy, this buckle is classy through and through. It comes with a letter of authenticity from Howard's wife Arlene.
