Aside from all of his on-field accomplishments, Elston Howard distinguished himself by inventing the batting "donut," or bat weight. Batting donuts are taken for granted today, but they only began trickling into the game after Howard obtained a patent for his bat weights in 1967. These two Elston Howard's On-Deck Bat-Weights were personally owned by Howard and come in their original boxes. The red weights themselves show very little wear and are at least near mint, while their packages have obtained wear while in Howard's personal collection and stand in good to very good condition. The weights come with a letter of authenticity from Howard's wife Arlene.
