These four awards were presented personally to Elston Howard at various points throughout his life. First is a New York Area Chrysler Dealers Yankee of the Year Award presented to Elston Howard in 1964, which is on a 17" x 5" wood base with a gold engraved plate. Mounted on the base is a statue of a hitter and to the left of this is a black and white picture of Howard that is set in a wood frame with an engraved plate "Yankee Stadium August 29, 1964." The next award is a Tri County Chapter National Business League Sports Award presented to Elston Howard in 1975 for his service to the New York Yankees as a player and coach. Mounted on a marble base are a gold statue of a catcher as well as a wood plaque with a black engraved plate. The award is 10 inches wide and 11 inches high. Also included in this lot is a 5" x 7" wood plaque with an engraved plate reading "In Grateful Appreciation Elston Howard Family Sports Night January 25, 1979 Fathers' Club St. Joseph's H.S. Metuchen, N.J." Finally, there is a medal presented to Howard by Fairleigh Dickinson University. The medal, which is slightly over 3-1/2 inches in diameter and is of substantial weight, is engraved "Founders' Community Service Award Presented to Elston Howard (posthumously) in Recognition of Service Rendered to the Community in Commemoration of the Founders of the University." It comes in its original presentation case. The lot is in excellent condition overall and comes with a letter of authenticity from Howard's wife Arlene.
