This 21-1/4" x 21-1/4" wood framed piece was presented to George Steinbrenner on August 28, 1980, by New York City Transit. The award has a large picture of a ship with what appears to be a map for ships and also has a picture of a man inset. On the left of this is a clock with a nature theme and below it is a wheel denoting the time zones of the world. There is a black plaque engraved, "Presented to George Steinbrenner Principal Owner New York Yankees / In recognition of his outstanding contribution to our Big Wheel Bus Operator Program and for his sponsorship of Mass Transit Day at Yankee Stadium / The New York City Transit Authority and Manhattan and Bronx Surface Transit Operating Authority / August 28, 1980." The award was given to Elston Howard at some point and has remained in his collection until now. It comes with a letter of authenticity from Howard's wife Arlene.
