A home run hitter such as McGwire is extremely rare, and perhaps equally rare is a Mark McGwire signature with the "70" inscription. Offered here, however, are two choice examples with great provenance. The snow white, near mint to mint ONL Coleman baseball has been signed "Mark McGwire 70" in blue ink on the side panel. The signature rates a near 10 and was obtained directly from McGwire by a Montreal Expos clubhouse employee. The other item is a framed and matted signed 8" x 10" photo of McGwire taking a curtain call. A "Mark McGwire 70" full signature on a photo is perhaps even rarer than it is on a ball, and this black Sharpie signature rates an unimprovable 10 with an interesting story behind it. When a Georgia native saw a St. Louis Cardinals advertisement stating that McGwire would be appearing at the Cardinals' Fan Fest, he drove with his sons all the way to the St. Louis event only to find that McGwire was not there. After he returned home, he called the Cardinals to express his frustration, and James Milner, McGwire's business manager and accountant, proceeded to send the man the very McGwire 70 signed 8" x 10" photo offered here. The photo will come with a letter and original envelope from James Milner that accompanied the photo as well as a letter from the man explaining the story. The signatures are absolute blazers and come with a PSA/DNA letter of authenticity.
